Free Wills Month Solicitors in Leicester

At Josiah Hincks Solicitors, we’re proud to be named as one of the participating law firms for Free Wills Month, offering eligible clients the opportunity to have a simple will written or updated completely free of charge.

What is Free Wills Month?

Free Wills Month brings together a group of well-respected charities to offer members of the public aged 55 and over the opportunity to have their simple Wills written or updated free of charge by participating solicitors in selected locations across the UK.

Most UK charities depend on legacies (gifts) in Wills to support their causes therefore by taking part you could help one or more of these worthy charities who enrich the lives of millions of people every day.

A gift in your Will costs you nothing now but can make a difference for years to come.

When is Free Wills Month?

Free Wills Month begins 1st October 2025.

Importance of having a Will:

An up-to-date Will written by a solicitor ensures that your wishes are respected and prevents difficult decisions and legal complications for your loved ones when you pass away.

Key things to consider when making a Will include:

  • Who do you want to appoint to look after your children under 18 years (called Guardians)?
  • Who do you want to appoint/trust to carry out the terms of your Wills (called Executors)?
  • Who do you name to benefit from your estate (called Beneficiaries?)
  • What do you want to give away and to whom, including specific items and fixed sums of money (called Legacies)?
  • Whether your estate will be subject to Inheritance Tax?
  • Whether you need a Trust in place to help preserve wealth for future generations, protect against residential care fees or help vulnerable or disabled beneficiaries (such as a Life Interest Trust or Discretionary Trust)?
  • What funeral wishes you want to include?

Contact a member of our Wills and Probate team if you need help to draw up a Will that accurately reflects yours wishes. The process of writing a Will can often be conducted in a matter of a few weeks for simple Wills and will include advice and guidance, confirmation of your wishes, preparation and signing of your Will. At Josiah Hincks Solicitors, we also offer a free will storage service.

At the same time as providing for your family and friends, Free Wills Month enables you to leave a gift to your chosen charity too.
