Josiah Hincks are redundancy solicitors in Leicester. We have offices in Blaby and Coalville so cover the whole County. As redundancy solicitors leicester, we can advice on all areas of redundancy law and how being made redundant will affect you.
If you are being Made Redundant then it is likely that you will be given a compromise/settlement agreement. We can advise on these.
When an employer has to make redundancies they owe the following duties to employees:
- To consult and notify them of the possibility of redundancies on both an individual and collective basis
- Use a fair and defined selection process that allows for an appeal
- Consider whether there is an alternative job role, work or vacancy within their business
If an employer has failed to adhere to any of their duties under redundancy law or unfair dismissal law, you may have a claim for compensation.
If you have been chosen for redundancy the employer also has a duty to pay redundancy pay if you have been employed for more than 2 years. The minimum amount of redundancy is set out in law although your employment contract may allow for more favourable terms than the law allows.
