How do I know if I can claim for my injuries?

Unfortunately, sometimes accidents do happen.  There is no one to blame,  it’s just one of those things.  If you fall down the stairs at home because you slipped on a toy your child had dropped or if you hit a wall whilst reversing your car, then you would not be able to recover compensation as these are simple accidents.

However, if you are injured as a result of the actions or omissions of someone else, then you may be entitled to recover compensation.

Looking at the above two examples, if you rented your property and you had complained to your landlord about loose carpeting on the stairs but the landlord had failed to take any action and you then slipped on that loose carpeting, you would be entitled to recover compensation from your landlord.

If you had taken your car into a garage for replacement brakes and you were reversing out of your drive when the brakes failed, such that you hit a wall and injured yourself, you would be entitled to recover compensation from the garage.

Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence claims can be complex and it is therefore essential that you instruct a specialist to pursue your claim.  The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) is a not-for-profit campaign organisation with over 3,000 member lawyers, who are dedicated to changing the law, protecting and enhancing access to justice and improving the services provided for victims of personal injury.   Members receive ongoing training to ensure they are always up to date with the latest developments in personal injury law.  Our Vickki Ridgway is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and has in excess of 20 years’ experience in dealing with Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence claims.

Our team of lawyers are highly experienced individuals who have the technical expertise to ensure that you not only understand the legal process of bringing a claim but also that you receive appropriate and prompt rehabilitation if necessary and your compensation settlement reflects the extent of the impact of your injuries upon your life.

Our team appreciates that whilst financial compensation will assist those who have sustained the most serious injuries, the ultimate goal for those individuals is to ensure that their needs will be adequately met both now and in the future.  Our aim is to ensure that your immediate needs are met and that a plan is in place for any future help you may need.

We pride ourselves on providing exceptional personal service.  You will have a dedicated lawyer from the very start of your claim.  We can meet with you at your home, in hospital, at our offices or somewhere else where you feel comfortable.  We can meet with you outside of normal office hours and at weekends if necessary.

We will provide you and your family with ongoing support, which is essential in cases involving injuries of the utmost severity, where a claim is likely to take many years before reaching a conclusion.
