Amongst the areas in which we can help with family related problems are:

Divorce

We can advise you whether you have grounds to issue a divorce petition, and if so, what those grounds are. We can take you through the process of a divorce from the issuing of a petition to the Decree Absolute. If you have been served with a petition, we can assist you with the completion of the papers you need to return to the court, or advise you on grounds to contest the divorce.

Financial matters

These are usually dealt with at the time of separation or the divorce. We can advise you as to the sort of settlement you can expect to receive, whether this be by way of a lump sum, the transfer of a property, maintenance provision for you as well as the children or a pension sharing order. Possibly even all of these.

Legal Separation

For those parties who are either not married, or do not wish to commence divorce proceedings at the present time, we can help by preparing a Deed of Separation. This can set out the agreement reached on the arrangements for children and also the financial settlement.

Children

Whenever a relationship breaks down, primary consideration should be given to the welfare of the children. We can help with agreeing contact arrangements, or dealing with contested proceedings if there is a dispute as to whom the children should live with or how much time they should spend with the other parent.

Injunctions

Victims of domestic abuse need expert and often urgent advice. We can help by making emergency applications to the court for injunctions to stop someone using or threatening violence against another, or harassing or pestering them. Applications to regulate ones occupation of a property or even to stop someone from being forced into a marriage.
